I Can Do Both

A lot of records are heard to define as either soul or funk because they have elements of both. They are funk/ soul records!

It is a combination of genres that works very well together and adding some funk to a soul record can make it more dance floor friendly.

You don’t need to own hundreds of soul records to know that these genres are very friendly with one another. They also may bring in others genres. Blending in a little jazz is not uncommon either.

Bringing some soul to a funk record can make it more sincere and allow it to have a bit more of a melody than is usual in funk.

It is very interesting to hear someone singing softly on a soul record and then singing in a raw, rough and ready style on the next song on their album! You do get used to it after a while though.

If you are one of many businesses that play a variety of songs or music in their stores, then it only means that you are just aiming to generate more customers just like them. However, there are some stores that have been sued and they are now facing legal issues regarding their unauthorized use of certain songs that are free of royalty. Most of the song composers, authors and publishers used to copyright their creations and, therefore, they have the right to claim for the damages being done to them by the stores owners who make use of their songs without any duly recognized permission. With all these in mind, you may get rid of all the hassles that can be brought by court cases if you will play music for business that are royalty-free. But if you think that using the copyrighted songs will be beneficial, then you simply need to get permissions from the original creators.

When learning to play the guitar it is important to learn different picking or strumming styles. Every individual has their own idea on technique and personal preferences. Some people just do what is comfortable for them and others try to master a specific style. The two most common styles are alternate picking technique and economy picking technique. Players should test out both techniques a little bit to see which one they feel the most comfortable with. These techniques also have very different sounds to them. Play around a bit and see what you like! The different sounds produced may be used in different types of music. For example, one song may call for economy picking while another sounds better using alternate picking. Many people will stick with only one style, the one that feels good to them. Others will switch it up and sometimes even use multiple techniques within one song. If you decide you want to master a specific picking style just continue to practice every day. Practice is always the most important aspect when learning to play the guitar.
